Bachelor’s in Germany

A bachelor’s degree in Germany leads to a first academic degree that qualifies students to enter the workforce as well as to pursue a master’s degree. Most bachelor’s degree programs include one or two subjects, and at some universities a major subject is combined with several minors. Many courses of study can also be studied dual, especially in the field of economics or in the health and care industry. After six to eight semesters, which correspond to a duration of three to four years, you will receive a bachelor’s degree. Depending on the subject, different degrees are awarded. For example, in engineering usually a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), in the humanities, the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), in the natural sciences the Bachelor of Science
(B.Sc.).
The German Universities offer Bachelor courses in both languages, German and English. To secure admission to a German University for a Bachelors one must have 13 years of education completed. Since many countries offer high school education only until 12th grade, there arises a necessity for one to collect the extra one-year credit to have the eligibility to drop applications. This can be satisfied by doing either a Studienkolleg or Preparatory course in Germany or by pursuing your 1 st year Bachelor course in your home country.
